Kitesurfing Professional Photographer. A New Life Step By Step

When I was young I lived cloth to Paris. From a touristic point of view this city is incredibly rich but for every day's life it was not the best place for me. This way of thinking is surely stronger because I was living in the East suburbs where criminality, big old buildings and grey sky are everywhere. Until I was 18 I didn't really care about this because I was a child happy in my family, with my friends and my dreams.

My parents gave me the opportunity to go to the university in the South West of France (Bordeaux) where life and weather are sweeter (and beach clother !). I have chosen to study international management, motivated by foreign periods during the 4 years of school. After this I had several situations in accounting, management and sales. I was not happy with this jobs, they were not compatibles with my personality. Fortunately at the same time I was living in Cap Ferret, a wild and beautiful place where you can go to the beach by walk !

During 10 years in Cap Ferret a lot of good things happened to me : I started surfing and kitesurfing, I met my wife, We built our house, I began my new job of photographer and we had our daughter.

One day my wife told me she has the opportunity to work in St Barthelemy, we didn't have to think too much and a few months after we were in the plane for a new life in Paradise.

How I became a Professional photographer

When I stopped my last job in management I took the time to think about my professional future. I didn't want to make another mistake. I tried to find the activities I really love to do. First I think about video and photography I practised since a few years for pleasure. I had a good video and editing equipment that allowed me to produce professional results.

Then I had to choose an activity I well know to begin my sales efforts. Sports and more precisely kitesurfing was the answer. I started by filming my friends in Cap Ferret, I sent this video to some producers and one of them gave me the chance to film professional kitesurfers in Tarifa (Spain). My work was appreciated and I did other movies and full dvd's about kitesurfing . It was like a dream to work and to have good time with all this guys who share my passion.

Unfortunately this was not enough to earn money all year long...so I had to make other kinds of movies. At the same time I get digital professional photographic gear with a strong idea in my head : I will take pictures of private people during their sport activities and sell to them their photos. This concept works very well and also give me the pleasure of sharing happiness with this people who get photo they would never have by themselves.

BARTHELEMY

Wahou, after one year on this small paradise island I still can't believe I am living here ! Everything is beautiful : light, beaches, water and underwater, weather, land, houses and...women. People are very nice, they accept and help us as if we were always living here ! It really help me to follow my video and photo adventure.

This small part of France is so different, a lot of people came here because they had a different way of life based on respect, sharing and sweetness. You really feel that they want to keep this on the island. Yes, we are very lucky to be here...

PHOTO : sports, architecture, landscapes, articles...touching up with Photoshop and available on paper, cd or dvd (slideshows).
VIDEO : digital filming and editing availables on tape or dvd.
EVENTS : Let me take the pictures and we have two opportunities :
1) You pay me a package for all the photos and you can sell them to the participants
2) You pay nothing and you let me sell the photos to the participants
