Kitesurfing girl Laila Puehringer
Where are you from? I am from Austria but my mum is Moroccan.
Your age?] 25
Where did you grow up? I grew up in Austria but spent a lot of my childhood in Morocco. As well I lived 2 years in Cabaret, Dominican Republic...loved it!!
Any kite sponsors? Eclipse for my kites and board and Triggernaut for my sunglasses. Hang Loose Vienna supports me as well.
Special achievements? 7th Lond Ocean classics in South Africa, 2009
Tell me a little bit about yourself I am chasing the sun , the wind and the ocean. I am a really active person and I love to spend a good time with my friends and family. I do almost every sport with a board under my feet and I am just getting 100 % happy when I am close to the ocean.
Music? I like all kind of music...I almost listen to everything, there is so many good and different music out there. Why choose only one!!
Interested in..? I love music and I love to dance. I enjoy traveling around the world, playing boardgames and be with my homies.
Food? I love all Moroccan food, especially couscous ( you have to try it), sushi and I am a chocoholic!
Heroes? All the people who live their dreams! Go for it!!!
Favorite kite/surfing spots for you? I had great fun in Langebaan with some awesome friends but Cabaret is pretty amazing too.
Places you have been kiting at... Dominican Republic, Egypt, Brazil, South Africa, Spain and of course Austria.
How long have you been doing this? I first started kiting around 2 years ago and
really got hooked. Since that I was travelling all the time to kite spots where I could practice and enjoy kiting.
Why kite/surfing? It is just an amazing sport, you are close to the nature. You can have a good time on your own or with your friends.Everyday is different!
What does this sport mean to you? A lot, I work as a fitness trainer, study sport management and I do a lot of sport in my spare time...sport is a very important part of my life, ever since I was a child. Kitesurfing fascinated me from the very beginning and I could not resist! :)
What does this sport demand of you? A lot of training, no fear and discipline.
Have you ever been in an accident? Luckily I have never been involved in a bad kitesurfing accident. There was just this one time I had a pretty bad wakeboard breakdown. I hit my head with the board still on my feet while I landed an air wrap too hard.
Vision...you wish for the future... That all my beloved stay healthy and are having a long and satisfying life. I hope kiting will grow more and more in the worlds popularity. I want to give my best in all situations and enjoy every single day of my life and to always give my best at kitesurf but never loose the enjoyment!..and special thanks to Susi Mai for her support ;)
