Kiteboarding Brazil - A small plane crashed on the spot

After long hours of traveling and a day spent in Miami we finally made it to Cumbuco, Brazil.
I had to wait the whole day in Miami because the connection flight was very late, so with Linn, we took some cabs around Miami downtown to visit the city and go shopping. It was very warm, after Canada .. what a difference.
We arrived in Fortaleza
on Thursday morning, drove to Cumbuco and spent the day sleeping.
The next day, I went with my friend stephane from wind-factory.com one of the kiteshop in Cumbuco to the Cauipe Lagune.
The spot is known worldwide
for it's constant 20 to 25 knots every single day during the whole season from July until December.
We came to Cumbuco to do the 09 photo shooting for the new Ocean Rodeo Rise Venturi and the boards.
I went out on the new Mako wide 150x40 to do some pictures on the 8m 09 Rise kite . The wind was very good and the board felt amazing for upwind and freeride kiteboarding Brazil. We shoot some pictures for internet to show you guys these new toys in action.
The parties in Brazil
are pretty intense, there is always something to do at night or someone asking you to go out because it is his first or last night ...
Saturday, we went kiting in Cauipe,
the lagune downwind of Cumbuco.Many people kite on this spot.
I had just finished my session when a small plane came flying very low close to some kite on top of the beach, flew up again did some weird turn and went crash landing on the beach, 50 meters from the kite spot. The plane first hit the beach landed on the sand and then hit a small part of sand went up and crash on the bottom.
We then ran to see if the guy was ok, but the pilot ( only person in the small plane) had nothing !
It was pretty impressive to see .. Most of the time you see planes flying low, you think they gonna crash but they do some freestyle ...
This one, when I saw it few meters high I thought that he was freestyling or showing off .. but he was actually crashing ...
It is good nobody got hurt
because he flew on top of the launching zone where normally most of the people have their kite in the air ... It could have been pretty bad ....
Don't know if anybody got that on film but I attached few pics of the plane after the crash.
Pretty intense day in the lagune.
