Details:
Merging the two ultimate water sports into one for two days, allowing the best of the best in South Africa and the World, to showcase their talents at each individual sport at the same time, along possibly one of the best strips of coastline in the world to do so. Introducing people to the Traditional Hawaiian Sport of Stand Up Paddle Surfing. (SUP)

The Show:
With Table Mountain as the backdrop and multi coloured sails in the air, the colour bursts on the ocean has onlookers watching in awe. Seeing the sails launch high over Table Mountain only to land softly and line up for the next launch into the stratosphere. Competitors are tested to the limit pushing hard and feeling the camaraderie only felt by true modern day extreme gladiators….. It is a Feeling, Awareness, and a State of Mind!

The Event:
The Cape Dash kite event
Starting at Sunset Beach, Kitesurfers and Windsurfers Race out to a marker boy positioned roughly 2 km’s out to sea. Rounding the boy competitors make their way in to a boy positioned just off Dolphine Beach Hotel. They round this boy on the beach side and then make for a boy 1 km out to sea and then return to a boy at Doodles restaurant. Here the Novices (less than 1 years experience) finish their race on the beach.
The advanced riders continue around a boy and come in, between the main rocks at Big bay in front of the Big Bay Lifesaving Club.
SUP race is straight to Big Bay along the shore.
Positions count for points totalled for overall placing if run on both days.
Downwind Racing Format (as per contest director)
All competitors start at the same .Starting procedure will be given from
a boat or from the beach according to a flag sequence.
Red flag up + horn signal will be 6 min to the start.
>red down and yellow up >3 min to start
>yellow down will indicate the last minute before the start.No comp. is
allowed to cross the starting line during this last minute .Those who do
will be disqualified.
>green flag up + horn signal will indicate the start.
Finish will be an imaginary line between a buoy and flag on the beach or
otherwise explained
on the riders meeting.

Cape Dash Kite Event - The Big Bay Big Air
A 4 man 8min heat of Windsurfers immediately followed by a 4 man heat of kitesurfers being judged on stop watches for HANGTIME.
Elimination event with top two riders going through.
Windsurfers compete for times against windsurfers and kiters against kiters but the events are run as alternative heats.
Double Elimination if Wind Both days.
Hang time Criteria:
>4 (or 2) comp out in a 7 min heat/3 min transition period.
Best 2 (1) advances into next round. Till 4 (or 2) man final.
Criteria> The landing of the jump needs to be in a controlled way on
the board.
Alternative light Wind Event
Big Air Best Trick. (Both Disciplines)
The King Of The Bay
The positions that riders attain in the various disciplines will be allocated points according to a percentage system.
The rider that attains the best placing in the different discipline will be crowned King of The Bay.
Thus the competition in SUP, Windsurfing and or Kitesurfing will push for progress toward the man or woman that has the best overall performance in the Race as well as heats of the various disciplines.
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE KING OF THE BAY!
