Cabrinha Nomad IDS 2010 Kite Review

Cabrinha Nomad IDS 2010 Kite ReviewI would like to share with you my Cabrinha Nomad IDS 2010 Kite Review after trying the new Nomad from Cabrinha.

I am a wave rider, not into freestyle but more fan of the old school riding type, which means that I like big high jump grabs, one foot, no foot and other old tricks and less into Killer Kite loops, handle pass or any other tricks done by the new kitesurfing generation.

Since 2 years I am riding mainly 2 kites: Crossbow and Revolver.

Nomad 13 & Switchblade 12

I do love them for a lot of different purposes but my main goal while riding is to enjoy the waves and place big carving off the lip. When I met Pete Cabrinha, Jesse Richman, David Hastilow, Cameron Dietrich, Andre Philip, Susi Mai and all the rest the Cabrinha last march during my trip in Hawaii, everybody told me - if you ride Crossbow and Revolver you will enjoy their both qualities with the: RIDE NOMAD

And I listened.

Today I rode Nomad in very small waves conditions. It was more like a bump & jump in Delray Beach. But wow... The Nomad creates the type of kite turns that increase in power throughout the turning arc by pivoting off of the wing tip. This makes for powered kite loops.. It’s insane, each time I was turning even during my regular jump, I pull my bar and this Nomad was turning so fast to make a beautiful kite loop in the sky... What a feeling ;-)

Cabrinha Nomad IDS 2010 Kite Review: I have tried the 2 set ups.

Cabrinha Nomad IDS 2010 Kite ReviewLighter: The wave bridle setting allows a great level of depower for hooked in surfing.
Light: The fast turning speed of the Nomad combined with its quick and short depower throw, make for a finely tuned, predictable surfing kite like no other. I prefer “light” to get more power, I will try “lighter” with new trip to France next month...

Nice sensation on the bar for both of these set ups and for the back lines.

David gave me this tip: “For the Nomad I pretty much fly the kite in light winds on the top knot on the rear line (closest to the kite) and then the middle for pretty much everything else unless it's nuking when I move it to the bottom.”

no middle strap

The construction is like Cabrinha’s kite, very strong and super clean profile. There are only 6 struts, no more in the middle, make this kite not for beginners because the launching can be tricky...

The new IDS bar 2010 is improved: chicken loop is smarter with a new swing and for me the big improvement is the new looper profile QR2, IDS line now is inside the front line. Cabrinha puts back the over slide, totally new and I kind of like it, easy to use, easy to block your power and the short arms ;-) are going to love it because it’s true the depower is insane and you can lose your bar, so far she slides...

So if you are a big fan of Switchable or even Crossbow, try this new toy from Cabrinha, because this kite is focus on fast steering, quick edge response.

Fun is guaranteed!
